Re: Citation Number
__________
Dear
__________:
On
__________,
you
received a traffic ticket for running a red light at
the intersection of Atlantic and Whittier, Los Angeles, California. At that time, the red light photo enforcement
system at the intersection was not working properly. As
a
result,
you were given a ticket by mistake. The
County
of Los Angeles has corrected the problem and the system now
operates properly.
On
May
15,
2003, at the request of the County of Los Angeles, the Los
Angeles Superior Court dismissed your conviction arising from the
ticket. This will have the same effect as
if you were
found innocent of running a red light.
The
Court
ordered
that a check be issued to you refunding the amount you
paid in fines and fees as a result of the ticket. The
Court
will
mail a refund check to you at the address indicated on the
ticket. This process may take up to 90 days. If
you
do
not receive a refund within 90 days, please contact the Warrant
Investigation Section of the Los Angeles County Auditor-Controller at
213-744-3451 or by email at trafficphotoclaims@auditor.co.la.ca.us.
The Court also ordered the California Department
of Motor Vehicles to remove this ticket from their records. If
the ticket is not removed, please contact the Warrant Investigation
Section of the Los Angeles County Auditor-Controller at 213-744-3451 or
by email at trafficphotoclaims@auditor.co.la.ca.us.
If you believe
that you are entitled to recover additional compensation for other
damages you suffered as a result of the ticket, such as the cost of
traffic school, you must file a claim. For
your convenience, a blank claim form is enclosed. If
you
wish
to make a claim, you must complete the claim form and submit
it to the County of Los Angeles within six months of the date of this
letter. Please mail or hand deliver your
completed claim form to the Executive Officer of the Los Angeles County
Board of Supervisors at 500 West Temple Street, Room 383, Los Angeles
California, 90012.
You do not
need to submit the claim form in order to receive your refund for fines
and fees associated with the ticket. The
refund check will be sent to you directly.
If you have any questions regarding the claim
process, you may contact the Warrant Investigation Section of the Los
Angeles County Auditor-Controller at 213-744-3451 or by email at trafficphotoclaims@auditor.co.la.ca.us. Please refer to this letter when you call or
email.
The County sincerely apologizes
for any inconvenience this situation may have caused you and will work
to ensure that your claim is handled in a timely manner.
